Pepe Reina feels 'lucky and proud' as he prepares to reach another Liverpool milestone on Thursday night.
The 28-year-old is due to play his 300th game in a Liverpool shirt against Braga - something he never imagined would happen when he arrived from Villarreal in the summer of 2005.
"No, I didn't really think it would happen," Reina told Liverpoolfc.tv. "It was difficult to think because you are moving to a new country and you don't know how you are going to settle down or what the people are going to think about you.
"I am really proud of this amount of games and it's not something I imagined.
"I trust myself and I knew I could be a good 'keeper here but to play 300 games - I think I've been really lucky and I'm really proud to have played in each one."
Reina has smashed a stash of Anfield records over the past half-decade including most consecutive clean sheets (11) and keeping 100 shut-outs in the fewest appearances (198).
Some even believe he is the club's greatest ever goalkeeper - but the man himself doesn't believe the hype.
"It makes me proud (that people say that) - it's something really big but in Liverpool's history there have been great goalkeepers. It's difficult to say who the best are because the times and the rules change. It's difficult to compare us all.
"I am not sure my hands would be good without gloves! It was a different kind of situation and in the past there were probably more difficult moments."
