This was it, the dreaded day had arrived, the summer holidays had come and gone – the late nights, the parties and generally having fun had ended. It was day 1 of university life – day 1 of of being an adult - day 1 of the future. Unfortunately the day hadn’t started to well for one girl. She was running around her mates flat frantically. “Oh my god!!” She said, “where are you?!” lifting another pillow up to look for her phone. The ringing stops and grace, a blonde haired green eyed girl, went back to eating her breakfast. Seconds later she was disturbed by a knock at the door.

“Oh my god! Who the hell is this!!” She said as she opened the door. “That’s a charming way to greet your dad.” Said a voice from behind the door. “Oh dad I’m sorry, I’m just having such a bad day!!” Grace’s Dad looked at his watch “a bad day? It’s only half 7 and your not even at uni yet!” Grace laughed nervously, “Yeh well I’ve lost my phone again, can’t find my favourite necklace, you no the one mum gave me. If I don’t find it, I just know I’ll have an awful day.” She put her head in her hands and started to cry. “Hey don’t cry princess" said Grace’s dad. “Go get in the shower and ill look for your phone and necklace.”

Two hours had now past and Grace was now stood looking up at an extremely tall building. Holding a piece of paper in one hand and her favourite necklace in the other, she tired to work out where she had to go. It was no use. She couldn’t hold the paper still long enough to look. As Grace was getting more and more anxious she heard a familiar voice.

“Hey there bud" Said the voice. “Oh my god! I’m so glad to see you.” Grace said looking pleased, "where have you been? I thought we agreed to meet at 9" “Well I’m here now aren't I? You know I can't stand mornings,” said Zoe tiredly looking at her watch, “Anyway I’m only a little late stress head.” Grace gave Zoe an evil stare, “your half an hour late. Not a bit late!!” sounding annoyed, “anyway come on, we can’t put it off any longer.” Grace dragged Zoe inside the building. They wouldn’t admit it but they were both nervous, excited anxious and scared. Inside the building lay their future. Where ever it would take them, they knew they always had each other.

“240, 241, 242,” Grace counted out loud. “Will you quit counting out loud, your giving me a headache.” Zoe asked. "Why should I? I'm not the one who's tired" Grace muttered. She confined to count out loud “243, 244 ahh here we are! 245.” She said excitedly.

Room 245 would be Grace and Zoe's new home for the next year. The girls unlocked the door and raced inside choosing which bedroom was theirs. "This is so my room it has buckets of space." squealed Grace. "Well this is my room then, the bed is soooo comfy" Zoe shouted while jumping on her bed. After unpacking their suitcases and exploring their new home, the girls decide it was time to check the rest of the place out. But as they were about to leave the door flung wide open.

"Ahhhh new people" the girls shouted excitedly. In walked a tall pretty looking girl, "I'm Penny" she said shyly. "Hiya Penny I'm Grace and this is Zoe. She's a bit of a nutcase." Grace said politely. "Me and Grace have chosen our rooms so you have the next choice. Do u need help with your bags? I'm sure Grace would be delighted to help you." Zoe said jokingly. A deadly stare was thrown Zoe's way.

As the three of them started to settle in they heard an almighty bang outside. Together they jumped up and ran to the door. Lying in a heap on the floor was a brown haired girl with glasses. "oh my god, my stuff! It's everywhere." the girl began to silently cry. The girls walked over to her and helped her up. "Thank you so much. That was so kind of you to help. I'm Jess by the way, you wouldn't happen to know where room 245 is?" "Yes we do," smiled Grace, we're your new flatmates. I'm Grace, this is Zoe and that's Penny."

As all four girls walked into their new home a group of lads walked past, as one of the group wolf whistled Grace turned around. All of a sudden her eyes lit up and fixed on one member of the group. "wow" she whispered. "What's wow?" Jess asked politely. The rest of the girls stopped what they were doing and faced Grace. Grace shook her head, "Oh.... Erm well nothing." She couldn't tell then she had fallen for a guy she had only seen for a matter of seconds.

chapter 2 - boys will be boys

As the sun rose behind the trees the birds began to chirp. It was Monday morning and the start of uni but for one lad even thinking about getting out of bed was a hassle. The clock struck 7:30. 'Beep beep beep beep' the alarm went. A tall brown haired lad pulled his pillow over his head to block out the sound of his alarm. "Ughh it can't be morning already" he grumbled.

"STEVEN!!! I can't hear you moving up there! Breakfast is ready!" shouted his mom from the kitchen. "Grrr," Steven groaned while pulling himself out of bed, "I'll be down in a minute." "A minute isn't good enough you'll moan when it's cold, and you'll moan when you late for uni!" his mom replied. “Alright alright! Clam down I’m up now.” Steven shouted back angrily.

Over the road a similar situation was taking place. Jamie, one of Steven’s closest friends was getting himself ready for uni. They were both relived to be going to the same uni as one another along with their friend Fernando. However no one had heard from him all summer. "Alright Stevie lad. Ready to get this over and done with? Meet some fit birds on the way?" Jamie winked as he shouted over the road. Steven slammed his front door and ran over towards Jamie "That's all you think about, girls. Be a bit more respectful towards them." Steven said abruptly. Jamie stared at his best mate shocked, "Someone got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning." he announced.

As the boys turned the corner to uni they looked at each other and gulped. "This is it, you nervous?" Steven asked. "shitting it mate. Come on let's go inside." As they walked passed room after room something caught their eye. "Oh look attuned ladies" Jamie said practically drooling. "Oh stop it, they're way out of your..." Steven drifted off, "oh she's beautiful!" Jamie looked at his friend then at the girl, then back at Steven. "Come on," he said dragging his friend away.

Steven and Jamie eventually found the room they were looking for and burst in breathlessly. "Where the hell have you to been? Looks like you've run a mile!" A voice said. "Make that a marathon." Someone else chipped in. Steven eventually spoke, "Har har guys!” he said sarcastically. Jamie was up to his normal tricks checking out the talent." "At least I didn't go all giddy at the knees with the first girl I saw!!" Replied Jamie defensively. Steven went bright red and stormed off.
